SEHA League trophy is in Skopje again!
This weekend in the city of Brest, Belarus SEHA Gazprom League Final 4 tournament was taking place. The teams of Brest Meshkov, Vardar, Veszprem and PPD Zagreb met again to decide who will be the new SEHA champion. I was there to take photos of the "decision" for the website I work for - Gol.mk.
It was my 4th SEHA Final4 but I think this one I'll remember the most because of several reasons. First of all HC Vardar from Skopje won the title (third title in six SEHA seasons) , it was my very first time to take photos from a trophy ceremony where a team from my hometown was raising one. It was also first time for me to visit Belarus and the city of Brest which is a lovely and clean city with a huge heritage from the Soviet past of Belarus.
In the first semifinal Vardar won against PPD Zagreb with the result 36-28 and in the second semifinal Veszprem won against Brest Meshkov, so Vardar met Veszprem in the final. In the final match after an equal first half Vardar crushed Veszprem's resistance and won by 5 goals difference (final score 26-21).
After the final match and the trophy ceremony we went to the Brest airport. Vardar players arrived at the airport few minutes later and they brought the trophies (one in permanent possession and one that passes every year to the new champion) so I had an opportunity to take a photo with the trophies.
I was taking photos of the arrival of the trophies at Skopje airport as well as the arrival of the trophies to SC "Jane Sandanski", the home of HC Vardar.
After winning the SEHA Gazprom League, HC Vardar is facing SG Flensburg-Handewitt in the quarterfinal battle and hoping to get to the F4 tournament in VELUX EHF Champion's League for the very first time in the club's history. We hope that this year HC Vardar will finally play there and will make everyone happy with the result. Good luck!
